How Pacaville Began

It started at a dinner table.

Two friends, farms full of alpacas, and a question nobody could answer: why does everybody know a cow, and not everyone knows an alpaca?

Because that's the funny thing about these animals. Spend one morning with them — the humming, the staring, the way Graycee will follow you the whole length of a fence just to see what you're up to — and you're gone. You're theirs. But most people never get that morning. Most people go their whole lives without meeting one.

So we built a town.

We gave it a barn, a weathervane, and a herd — and every single one of that herd is real. Red Ronnie, Graycee, Wild Winston, Icy Hot, and Dream Bella are out in the field right now, in Oregon, being exactly as ridiculous as they are on screen. We didn't invent them. We just drew them.

Pacaville is our way of holding the gate open. Come and meet them.

Icy Hot

Too cool... muy caliente!

Ms. Laura Nguyen, Preschool Principal, committed to building a loving and safe learning community for young children

The coolest head in the herd — you'll know him by the jet-black, dreadlocked, suri fleece. Icy Hot has confidence to spare, and he's very good at making little ones feel confident too. In two languages, just to be sure. Favorite color: purple. Favorite snack: potato chips.

Wild Winston

Let's get WIGGLY!

Ms. Emily Chen, lead teacher of the Sunflower Class for 3 to 4 year olds, nurturing each child's individuality at preschool

The wild one — wiggliest of the alpacas, with a pom-pom crown he's very proud of. Winston has never walked anywhere he could bounce instead, and when he's dancing, little ones are up on their feet before they've decided to be. Favorite color: lime green. Favorite snack: apples.

Dream Bella

Dream it up, Pals!

Ms. Jessica Miller, infant and toddler teacher providing a warm and secure environment for children aged 12 to 24 months

The dreamer — tallest of the herd, and the one whose ears curve gently inward at the tips. That's how you know Bella's a llama, not an alpaca. She notices what makes everyone different and thinks it's the best thing about them. Favorite color: sparkly blue. Favorite snack: watermelon.

Graycee

I've got you, my little Pal.

Ms. Sarah Jenkins, Rainbow Class teacher guiding 4 to 5 year olds to express themselves and prepare for kindergarten

The one who looks after everyone — you'll know her by the silver-grey coat and the soft pale mask across her face. Graycee notices when someone's gone quiet, and she always knows what to say. She gives the best hugs too! Favorite color: pink. Favorite snack: strawberries.

Red Ronnie

The fun starts here!

Ms. Olivia Bennett, infant caregiver providing gentle, attentive care for babies aged 6 to 12 months at daycare.

The littlest Pal with the biggest heart. Ronnie's still learning how the world works, which means he asks the questions everyone else is too grown-up to ask. Favorite color: red, obviously. Favorite snack: alpaca pellets, and he'll tell you they're the best thing ever invented.

The herd is bigger than the Pals

Alpacas and llamas, sure. But also the ones who wander in, settle down beside them, and get treated like part of the herd. That's what a family is.

Alpacas have fleece, not wool. Llamas aren't just tall alpacas. Babies are called crias. If a child learns something here, it's true.
